Erika’s Cucina adds a Side of Philosophy to its Daily Specials in Clark

Clark Native, and Instagrammer, @FoodJunkie212 recently posted a pic of the classic Italian Sub (The #5, Ham, Salami, Capicola and Provolone) at Erika’s Cucina, a staple on the shop’s menu.

“It’s the best around,” he posted, adding the hashtags #lettuce, #mayo and #oilandvinegar.

Erika’s Cucina opened in 2012, in the Clarkton Shopping Center on Raritan Road. And while Italian subs are a mainstay, it’s their understated, hand-written daily specials, which they photograph and share on social media, that has garnered attention.

Not only do they inform locals of featured menu items (like Chicken Murphy, Sausage and Peppers, or Pepper Steak over Rice), they also add a word of wisdom to each in the lower left-hand corner.

“If you are searching for that one person that will change your life, take a good look in the mirror,” its January 30th post postulates.

“The biggest communication problem is we don’t listen to understand, we listen to reply,” said another… after noting that Pastrami on Rye is available for $8.25.

Pastrami and Philosophy, now that’s a combo deal.
