Duck Donuts {Finally} Lands in Clark

Clark is now home to New Jersey’s fifth Duck Donuts shop. And as Westfield Area’s Local Dish reports, many fans predict the new location is destined to inherit the franchise’s cult-like following that began at the original one in North Carolina.

Piping-hot donuts have a tendency put a smile on most people’s faces. For Kristen Maloney and Ron Bevan of Westfield it sparked their entrepreneurial spirit.

“We fell in love with Duck Donuts’ delicious product and unique made-to-order concept, while on vacation in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and we were thrilled to learn that the company offered franchising opportunities,” said Maloney.

After picking a prime spot for the business inside the Clark Circle Shopping Plaza on Central Avenue {who wouldn’t love to share a parking lot with Target and Paragon Tap and Table} there were a number of delays. But, with the doors opening, and donuts now frying, the whole ordeal is in their rear view mirror.

“We are so excited to finally be opening,” Maloney said.

In addition to donuts, the Clark location also serves Duck Donuts’ coffee, tea and breakfast sandwiches.

The original Duck Donuts was founded in 2006. Prior to the opening in Clark, area residents had to haul all the way to the nearest location in Somerset County to satisfy their Duck cravings.
