I helped launch Westfield Area as a way to celebrate the people, the businesses and the downtowns that make our communities a special place to live. My mantra from Day 1, was #LoveWhereYouLive. As a lifelong local, it was rallying cry for recognizing why we all choose to settle down here. This is our home, and as a realtor, I’ve always be in awe of how quickly new area residents become just an invested in this special corner of New Jersey as lifers.
With the COVID-19 crisis wrecking havoc, our neighbors responded and continue to respond with resounding positivity. For many children, families and shopkeepers, hand-drawn rainbows and promises that “everything will be ok,” emerged as a way to share messages of hope with one another. These cheerful declarations can be seen on driveways, street corners and store windows. I am highlighting this colorful wave of optimism on our Instagram page. If it does nothing else, I hope it captures this small, but loud movement to see life beyond lockdowns and curfews.
Since the start of this crisis, we have dedicated our efforts to supporting Westfield, Cranford, Scotch Plains, Garwood, Clark, Kenilworth, Fanwood and Mountainside cope, even just a little, with the onslaught of bad news. Now more than ever, it’s time to double down on our efforts.
