Oh, its on! Downtown Cranford is giving local shoppers an early Christmas present. The shopping district is offering free parking through December 27. At lots throughout town, you can park and shop for 3 hours free of charge. Local merchants hope the perk will help draw in holiday shoppers eager to make a #NearBuy.
The Special Improvement District, which oversees Downtown events and promotions, reminds everyone that street parking is not free to ensure regular turnover of spaces for customers making quick stops and shopping local, they ask for cooperation.
Downtown Westfield is also offering free parking ahead of Christmas. Shoppers are appreciative of the freebie. Instagram user @valyacik posted a photo of a covered meter, expressing her pleasure.
“An unexpected gift I received today while shopping in Westfield. Free Parking!” She went on to type, “This small present lightened my heart in the midst of today’s manic shopping.”
In Westfield, free parking is for 2-hours on-street and 4-hours at parking lots through December 27.
