An artist with a unique knack for capturing local color {trust us, you’ve seen his Westfieldscapes featuring the Rialto Theater and local landmarks a million times} has opened a storefront on South Avenue in Downtown Westfield. Ricardo Roig, a Westfield native {and current Hoboken resident}, has returned home to open the Roig Collection Art + Framing {in the former home of Urban Sewciety}
Roig’s artwork utilizes a unique printmaking technique whereby paper stencils create a very sharp edged graphic {they really are striking!}
Along with his well-loved Westfield Series, he also features original works from Boston, Hawaii, Jersey City, Hoboken and New York. Each piece is made by hand, signed and dated by the artist.
Roig’s homecoming also includes his selection to help create an exciting public art show featuring his designs beneath the Raritan Valley Line tracks on East Broad Street. The goal of the campaign is to connect the North and South sides of town, according to town officials.
