The term Gastropub has solidified itself into modern-day foodie vernacular. Even making its way into the Merriam Webster Dictionary in 2012. And you really don’t have to look far to find a legit one in our Area.
On any given night, the crowd at the Publick House on Mountain Avenue is a diverse one. Young adults from the Area enjoying an evening out, date nights, retirees, local Moms and even entire families all seem to co-exist quite nicely.
To many, the establishment has all the components of what has become known as a quintessential Gastropub. Basically, a classic watering hole with the added bonus of stellar food, artisanal beverages and a modern, often laid-back atmosphere. On its website, the owners of the Publick House, Bernie and Laura Goncalves (husband and wife) say service is also a top priority, making it clear they believe in high standards of personal service.
The menu at Publick House has an eclectic mix that includes both the traditional and modern. Appetizers like Fluke Ceviche with radish, red onion, jalapeño and sriracha, served with rosemary crostini, sit side-by-side with classics like Baby Back Ribs with housemade BBQ sauce.
